Why volleyball?

When I was young, I first started playing volleyball because my sisters played it. It was hard at the beginning, and it hurt my arms but I kept on playing.

Setting

A set is usually the second contact after a pass or a dig. Its where you take both of your hands, shape your hands into a specific form, and you gently "push" the ball but not with flat hands, so the ball smoothly travels.

Passing

Passing is the first contact after a serve. Passing is when you take both of your arms, you put your hands together in a specific way, and the ball bounces off your arm to the place where you want it to go.

Teams

There are many different types of volleyball teams. There are national volleyball teams, or just normal school teams. In Yiss, we have a middle school volleyball team, a junior varsity team in high school, and a varsity team in high school.

Nets

There are different net heights for different people. For women, the net height for professional/olympic/college/ages through 15-16 is 2.24 meters. For girls that are 13-14 the net height is 2.13 meters. Net height for girls 12 and under is 2.00 meters. For boys/men the height length is higher.

Positions

For volleyball, there are 6 different positions on court. There is a right side hitter, middle blocker, libero, setter, opposite, and a outside hitter. Normally in middle school, you rotate between positions. But when you get into high school, you most likely stick to one position. You have to first find out which position you're going to do.
